PROGRAM IN ENGLISH

The 2026 English Program is split into three sections: Early Years, Junior, and Senior.

The Early Years class, for toilet trained children ages 3 to 5, shares a spacious classroom with the Japanese Early Years program and specialists visit periodically to enhance the program. The focus is on activity based learning facilitated primarily in English.

Junior Classes have a homeroom classroom in the Sun Building where they start and end the day, and also where they eat lunch. Throughout the day, Junior Classes rotate through a number of different specialty classrooms and activities.

Senior Classes have a homeroom classroom in the Main Building where they start and end the day, and also where they eat lunch. Throughout the day, Senior Classes rotate through a number of different specialty classrooms and activities.

Specialty teachers employ a range of activity based learning strategies across a wide range of areas such as drama, music, art, sonic arts and digital animation. This approach enables students to maintain interest and engagement throughout the day and provide the context through which they can broaden and develop their English language skills regardless of initial proficiency.

英語プログラム

英語プログラムは、3～17歳児を対象に開講され、アーリーイヤーズ、ジュニアクラス、シニアクラスに分かれます。

アーリーイヤーズ（3〜5歳）のお子様は、日本語プログラムの参加者と広い教室のスペースを共有しながら英語プログラムに参加します。プログラムの内容をより充実させるために、定期的に専科教員が入る予定です。プログラムは活動に基づいた内容となり、主な使用言語は英語になります。なお、トイレトレーニングを終了しているお子様のみご参加いただけます。

ジュニアクラスのお子様は、始業・終業・昼食の場所となるホームルームがサンビルディングにあり、それ以外の時間は教室を移動して様々な専科授業や活動を行います。

PROGRAM IN CHINESE

NEW FOR 2026!

For the 2026 Summer School, NewIS is proud to introduce a new Chinese language-themed program designed for students aged 8 to 12. Led by our Chinese teacher, Ms. Gao, this program offers an immersive Chinese learning experience, taking children on a unique two-week journey of discovery from July 27 to August 7.

Each day, students will have the chance to conduct exciting science experiments, make careful observations, and even bring the magic of Harry Potter into our science classroom. In a fun and hands-on environment, children will not only strengthen their interest in science but also develop their ability to express scientific ideas in Chinese—truly learning by doing and speaking through play.

To support learners at various Chinese proficiency levels, we will also set aside time each day for games and activities that reinforce foundational language skills, including Pinyin spelling and writing, as well as character recognition.

Young scientists and young magicians, come join us on this magical adventure of exploration and growth—through Chinese and the wonders of science!

中国語プログラム

新規開講します！

NewISの2026年サマープログラムでは、8～12歳のお子様を対象に、テーマに基づいた、中国語のプログラムを新たに開講いたします。本プログラムは当校中国語教員の高が担当し、7月27日～8月7日の2週間、お子様は中国語にどっぷりと浸りながら、発見に満ちた特別な学びの時間を過ごします。

毎日、わくわくする科学実験や観察活動に取り組み、さらにはハリー・ポッターの世界の魔法を教室で再現する機会もあります。楽しく体験型の環境の中で、お子様は科学への興味を高めるだけでなく、科学的な考えを中国語で表現する力も育みます。まさに、体験し、遊びの中で会話しながら学習するプログラムです。

また、さまざまな中国語レベルのお子様に対応するため、基礎力を強化するゲームやアクティビティの時間を毎日設けて、ピンインのつづりや書き方、漢字の読み書きなどをしっかり身につけます。

中文科学营

新規開講します！

针对2026年暑期学校，NewIS将全新推出中文主题项目，面向8至12岁学生开放。本次项目由本校中文教师高老师主导设计，以沉浸式中文体验为核心，带领孩子们在两周内（7月27日至8月7日）展开一场别开生面的“科学遇见魔法”的探索之旅。

每天，学生们将有机会亲手操作有趣的科学实验，进行细致观察，甚至把哈利波特的魔法世界搬进我们的科学课堂。在轻松愉快的动手氛围中，孩子们不仅能加深对科学学科的兴趣，还能拓展科学领域的中文表达，真正做到在做中学、在玩中说。

此外，为兼顾不同中文基础的学习者，我们每天还将安排固定时段，通过游戏等方式帮助学生巩固拼音拼读、拼写和汉字识读等基础语言能力。

欢迎各位小科学家和小魔法师加入我们，一起在中文和科学的魔法世界里，探索、发现、成长！

Learning within contexts such as drama, music, art, digital media, domestic sciences, and other creative activities, provides students with opportunities to expand their imagination, interests and skills in many directions.

Teachers both from NewIS and teachers who have previously taught in the NewIS Summer Program will facilitate this year’s program with a maximum ratio of 12 students per teacher. The 2025 NewIS Summer Program runs from Thursday, July 10th to Friday, August 8th. There are options to register for the first two week session only, for the second two week session only, or for all four weeks. The program hours are from 9:30 a.m. to 3:00 p.m., Monday to Friday, with an added cost aftercare option to 4:30 p.m. also available. School will be closed for the Japanese national holiday on Monday, July 21st with the following day, Tuesday, July 22nd , a school holiday making for a four day weekend.

プログラムでは、例えば、演劇、音楽、図工・美術、デジタルメディア、家庭科、その他創造活動を通して学習することで、参加者は想像力、関心、技術を様々な方向に広げていくことができます。

プログラムの指導は、NewISの教員と本校のサマープログラムで指導経験のある教員が担当し、一人の教員に対し最大12名の児童生徒をお受けいたします。2026のプログラムは、下表のとおり、7月9日（木）～8月7日（金）に実施されます。前半2週間のコースまたは後半2週間のコースにご参加いただくこともできますし、4週間コースにご参加いただくこともできます。プログラムは、月曜日から金曜日までの平日9時30分～15時に行われます。アフターケアをご希望の方は、追加料金にて16時30分までご利用いただけます。7月20日（月）と21日（火）は休講日となり、学校は土日を含め4連休となります。

サマープログラムに関するオンライン説明会

6月8日（月）、10時より、サマープログラムの説明会をオンラインで実施いたします。説明会は、既にプログラムにお申込みされた方も、お申込みをご検討くださっている方にもご参加いただけます。説明会では、選択していただくプログラムの概要、時間割の一例、一日の開始時間・終了時間、ランチタイムに必要な物など一般的なことをご説明いたします。オンライン説明会への参加を希望される方は、こちらのGoogleフォームにご記入ください。

AFTER CARE PROGRAM

After dismissal at 15:00, an aftercare program is available for an additional fee of 20,000 yen for two weeks or 35,000 yen for four weeks. This is a flat rate which does not vary in relation to attendance or absence. Aftercare is unstructured supervision time and does not have a specific learning based purpose. The language of supervision may be either Japanese or English, depending on the supervising adult. There is no provision for aftercare on a day-by-day basis.

アフターケアプログラム

サマープログラムは15時に終了します。終了時から16時30分までの時間、お子様を学校でお預かりすることができます。アフターケアのプログラムでは、職員がお子様を見守りますが、特別に計画されたレッスンを行う場ではなく、担当職員も日によって異なるため、英語を使用する職員である日もあれば、日本語を使用する職員である日もあります。アフターケアプログラムは有料オプションです。アフターケアを一部キャンセルされる場合も、料金は一律20,000円（2週間）または35,000円（4週間）になります。単発でのご利用は承っておりません。

Late Pick-up Charges

For students in the regular program, pick-up is no later than 15:00.
For students in the aftercare program, pick-up is no later than 16:30.
For parents picking up students later than these times, there is a charge of 2,000 yen for every 15 minutes.
Please avoid this charge and make every effort to pick your child up on time.

In the unfortunate situation that a student is not picked-up on time, please go directly to the school office for information regarding payment prior to picking up your child.

迎えが遅れた場合の追加料金について

サマープログラムにご参加のお子様で、お迎えが必要な方は、必ず午後3時までにいらしてください。
アフターケアをご利用のお子様で、お迎えが必要な方は、必ず午後4時30分までにいらしてください。
お迎えの時間に遅れた場合は、15分ごとに2,000円をお支払いただきます。
くれぐれも遅れないようにお気を付けください。

万が一間に合わなかった場合は、学校本館の受付にて追加料金や振込先をご案内させていただきますので、お迎えの前にお立ち寄りください。

PROGRAM REQUIREMENTS

More details about program requirements will be sent upon registration; however, it may be helpful to parents to know the following in advance:

Students applying for the early years program must no longer require the use of diapers.
Lunches are not provided and need to be brought from home each day,
Healthy options are encouraged, so please ensure drinks are non-carbonated and food choices are healthy,
Items brought from home should be clearly labeled and named,
Indoor shoes are not required to join the program with the exception of the Japanese and English Early Years Programs,
Comfortable casual clothing is recommended: The school uniform is not required.

プログラムへのご参加にあたっての注意事項

プログラムにご登録いただいた方には、集合場所、持ち物などの詳細をご案内しますが、先に以下をお知らせいたします。

アーリーイヤーズにはおむつを必要としないお子様のみご参加いただけます。
給食はありませんので、毎日のお昼ご飯はご家庭でご用意ください。
ご飯や飲み物は、なるべく健康に良いものをご用意ください。飲み物は、炭酸飲料でないものをお持たせください。
学校への持ち物には、はっきりと記名してください。
プログラムに参加するのに上履きは必要ありません。（日本語と英語のアーリーイヤーズプログラムには必要）
服装は、快適で動きやすいものがお勧めです。制服の着用は必要ありません。

CANCELLATION POLICY

In the case of cancellation by the registrant after payment has been made, all but 25,000 yen of the prepaid fees will be refunded provided that the school is informed in writing on or before June 19th, 2025. For cancellation after that date and prior to July 1st, 50% of the prepaid fees will be refunded. There can be no refunds after July 1st. Please note also that the fees cannot be prorated for late starts or early departures.

お支払い及びキャンセルについて

お支払いいただいた後に正式にキャンセルされる場合は、2025年6月19日以前にその旨を書面にてお知らせいただいた場合に限り、合計金額から25,000円差し引いた額を返金いたします。2025年6月20日から7月1日までの間にキャンセルされた場合につきましては、お支払いいただいた額の50パーセントを返金いたします。なお、7月2日以降の返金、及び登録料、参加費、アフターケアサービス利用料の日割りの請求及び返金は致しかねます。

HEALTH MEASURES

Students and staff are reminded that if ill for any reason, they should not attend the summer program until well again. In situations where a member of a student or staff’s household is ill, we ask that those concerned consider carefully whether they should attend that day or not

健康に関する予防措置

参加者及び教職員は、原因が何であれ、体調不良の場合は、体調が回復するまでの間はサマープログラムに出席することはできません。もし参加者または教職員と同居する人が体調不良になった場合は、サマープログラムの出席について十分慎重に検討してからご判断ください。

ANSWERS TO FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

The NewIS Summer Program does not have a bus option for morning or afternoon commuting.
Registration closes for:

- 1. Sessions A and B on July 8th, and
  2. Session C on July 23rd.
- Please be aware that there are a limited number of spaces. When a program reaches capacity, registration will close.
